We hope you had a great weekend! In this week’s edition of our PRO-UAW newsletter, we remind you about two different ways we can come together to make Hopkins a better place to work for postdocs, and be sure you’re up to date on our contract bargaining.
1) International Worker Town Hall This Saturday, Feb. 21st at 11:30am in PCTB
This Saturday, we are convening a town hall on JHU’s East Baltimore Campus to meet and discuss how we’re feeling about the current immigration enforcement by ICE and other government agencies. The goal of this discussion is to understand and figure out what we can do together, and as a union, to respond to the federal government’s policies, better protect ourselves, and make JHU a safer community for all of us regardless of our immigration status. The town hall will be this Saturday, February 21st, from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm in the STILE Classroom (Room 115) in the Preclinical Teaching Building (PCTB, across from Bloomberg SPH).

RSVP is an important tool for our Organizing Committee to measure the support that these initiatives have and organize effectively around issues. So, please, take your time to fill it out.
2) Last Call for Bargaining Committee Nominations:
Today is the last day to nominate yourself for a position on our union’s Bargaining Committee (BC). In case you’re unaware, our Bargaining Committee are our elected representatives in the negotiation room with JHU and their bargaining team, working together to negotiate a transformative first contract for all postdocs as a result of winning recognition of our union last June.
All Union supportive postdocs who want to accept the nomination for a Bargaining Committee position must deliver an acceptance of nomination no later than 5:00pm today, Monday, February 16, 2026 by e-mail to elections@hopkinspro-uaw.org. Any postdoc part of the union is automatically nominated and nominations can be accepted in writing, by electronic scan (pdf), or by photograph attachment of a signed acceptance of nomination for the specified position.
Each candidate may write and submit a candidate statement of no more than 250 words. These statements will be posted on the PRO-UAW website if there are elections. Phone number and email address must be included, but will not be counted toward the 250 words.

3) Two Tentative Agreements Reached!
Last Thursday, our elected BC had our second bargaining session with JHU administration. We reached our first two tentative agreements (TAs), and are excited to continue making progress toward winning a great contract at our next session on Tuesday, February 24th, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
We created this Bargaining Tracker spreadsheet so that people can follow along with our progress and stay up to date with what is currently being proposed and negotiated. We will also continue to send updates out after our bargaining sessions, and you can follow along with updates on our website. The more we all stay informed and work together, the stronger our position at the bargaining table will be!
